ARC Mission

The Academic Resource Center joins the Division of Student Affairs in supporting and engaging in its ongoing Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion initiatives and those of the greater Georgetown University community.

Each student, faculty, and staff member brings with them diverse identities and unique experiences that enhance our community in incredible ways. To truly speak of the Jesuit value of cura personalis or “care of the whole person,” we must acknowledge and celebrate one another’s diversity as well as the importance of building a community committed to diversity, inclusion, and social and racial justice for all.

With cura personalis at its core, the Academic Resource Center supports Georgetown students in three distinct ways while honoring each student’s individuality, diversity, and lived experiences:

The Academic Resource Center strives to create an inclusive environment for all. Equity and access are social justice issues. As such, the Academic Resource Center strives to meet the diverse needs of students with disabilities in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973.

We promote equity and access through student consultations, facilitation of reasonable accommodations, and support for our University partners implementing those accommodations. Advancing access, equity, and inclusion for all must be a community-wide undertaking.

We provide academic coaching to empower student-athletes to become student-centered learners. Our academic coordinators work closely with Hoya student-athletes to enhance their academic performance while balancing their athletic and personal commitments.

We encourage all Georgetown students to take advantage of our academic support services. These include consultations for study skills support, custom academic workshops, one-on-one meetings with our learning skills specialists, and drop-in foreign language tutoring in Arabic, Chinese, French, Italian, and Spanish.
